Performance

As a performer, Thorolf has been a member several groups, from his early contributions to improvisation bands such as Haugesund-based SpontEnsemble and INITZ, to more recent projects in which he has performed as a live-sampling computer musician in groups such as Fat Battery, Fig. and MyrtleIn 2016 he also appeared as an actor in  Scènes Théâtre Cinéma´s production of Heiner Muller´s Hamletmachine.

Through projects such as LUIGI NONO a monographic concert, his norwegian premiere of Bernard Parmegiani's La Creation du Monde , and the norwegian premiere of Fausto Rommitellis An Index of Metals (with BIT20 ensemble), his role has often been directly performative, or in the borderland between sound engineering and musical performance (live processing and diffusion).

Thorolf´s attitude is that when working with time-based art, even in what might be traditionally considered a technical role, the performative aspect is always paramount.
